Frequently Asked Questions
About
What is Atelier Nara?
Atelier Nara is my creative studio — where I explore the intersection of food, design, and human experience. It’s the space where ideas become systems, rituals, and stories that move people.
Where are you based?
I’m currently based in Halifax, Canada — working with collaborators and clients across North America and abroad.
Who runs Atelier Nara?
It’s led by me, Sunpreet Singh Kanda — a chef, creative director, and consultant focused on building meaningful, disciplined, and emotionally intelligent hospitality.
Work
What kind of projects do you take on?
Concept creation, culinary direction, menu architecture, brand and experience design, and creative systems for hospitality groups and lifestyle brands.
Do you consult for restaurants?
Yes. I work with both new and established venues — building frameworks that connect kitchen discipline with brand presence, guest psychology, and long-term sustainability.
Do you take on branding or design work?
Selective projects only — where food, identity, and philosophy meet. The work has to feel intentional.
Philosophy
What does “Atelier Nara” mean?
Atelier means workshop or studio — a place of making. Nara represents calm strength, the balance between spirit and structure. Together, it’s a philosophy of creating with stillness and precision.
What guides your creative process?
Observation. Rhythm. Integrity.
Everything starts with presence — understanding people, patterns, and place — and building systems that allow creativity to move with purpose.
Collaboration
How can someone work with you?
Start with a message — introduce your idea, context, and why it matters. If it aligns, we schedule a short discovery call to define scope and direction.
Do you work internationally?
Yes. Most projects are hybrid — part remote, part on-site — depending on scale and phase.
What kind of clients do you collaborate with?
Hospitality groups, founders, wellness brands, or individuals who see food and design as language — not just product.
Practical
How long do projects take?
Smaller creative or culinary systems: 2–6 weeks.
Full concept or brand development: 8–16 weeks.
Timelines vary depending on complexity and deliverables.
Do you offer private consultations?
Yes — for concept alignment, brand refinement, or leadership and operations strategy. Inquire through the contact page.
